Fox DD-829 from May 1945 to June 1946. The items are as follows:

-8th Series Nagoya Type 99 rifle with a rare late-war Type 30 bayonet made by the Jinsen Arsenal (located in what is now Incheon, South Korea) complete with wooden scabbard. The Type 99 is in the “last ditch” configuration and lacks the “Type 99” marking as is typical on late-war rifles. The chrysanthemum has been scrubbed. While the they exhibit typically poor late-war Japanese construction quality, they are in almost new condition and the rifling is crisp and clear. Chambered for 7.7x58mm Japanese. Bring back papers for both are included.

-Photo album with 133 photos from Japan, the Philippines, Saipan, and life aboard the Myles C. Fox plus newspaper clippings and a Christmas menu from the Fox. These include rare post-surrender photographs of the legendary Japanese battleship Nagato and German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, the Imperial Palace, the streets of Yokosuka and Tokyo, and war-torn Manila, the site of some of the worst urban fighting and worst Japanese atrocities outside of China in the Pacific Theater. It also has two photos of sailors on the Fox messing around with Type 99s, one of which is possibly the very same rifle included with this package.

-A cruise map showing the Myles C. Fox’s first and only wartime voyage; the ship was slated to take part in the invasion of Japan but the war ended while they were on their way to Japan. The Myles C. Fox would be one of the very few Gearing-class destroyers to enter service during World War 2 and would go on to have a long and distinguished career, including participating in the Apollo 11 program.

-An antique Japanese kiseru tobacco pipe

Don’t miss this rare chance to own a rifle with specific documented history!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0610/9229/8829/files/2FB9C470-6D76-4AD7-9DF3-CB631C74FFB8.jpg?v=1765654059
https://whiskeyrebellionantiques.com/products/collection-of-items-brought-home-from-japan-by-local-veteran-kenneth-blair-cupp
