Inert WW2 German Luftwaffe MG151/20mm set of 3
Inert WW2 German Luftwaffe MG151/20mm set of 3
Add a piece of aviation history to your collection with this exceptional set of three inert 20mm rounds for the German MG151/20 autocannon, a mainstay of Luftwaffe fighters during World War II. These rounds, dated 1943, were manufactured at the height of the air war by three different German factories: Berliner-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik (BLM), Metallwerk Wolfen, and Metallwerk Odertal, as indicated by their headstamps ("B 1943," "aux 1943," and "exw 1943").
Each round measures approximately 5 3/4 inches in length and is held together in original disintegrating belt links, just as they would have been fed into the MG151/20 on aircraft like the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 or Messerschmitt Bf 109. The projectiles are believed to be armor-piercing incendiary (API) rounds, as suggested by the "PH" marking (indicating a phosphorus incendiary component) and blue tip on the middle round, a common German color code for API rounds in 1943. These rounds were designed to penetrate Allied aircraft and ignite flammable materials, making them a deadly tool in aerial combat.
The rounds show authentic wartime wear, with corrosion and patina on the brass casings, likely from decades of exposure in a battlefield or crash site context. Despite their age, the headstamps remain legible, and the projectiles retain traces of original paint, adding to their historical character.
