Original American Civil War era socket bayonet designed for the U.S. Springfield Model 1855, 1861, and 1863 rifle muskets. These bayonets were issued to Union infantry throughout the Civil War and were intended for the standard .58 caliber rifled muskets carried by U.S. soldiers.

This classic triangular spike bayonet features a steel blade with the typical hollow socket and rotating locking ring used to secure the bayonet to the muzzle of the musket. The pattern was introduced with the Model 1855 rifle musket and continued in service with later Springfield models during the war.

The bayonet displays honest age and patina consistent with Civil War–era military equipment. The blade retains its original profile and shows oxidation and surface wear from age and storage. The socket and locking ring appear intact and functional. Pieces like this were standard equipment for Union infantry soldiers and remain highly collectible relics from the American Civil War.
