WWII U.S. Army 87th Infantry Division Service Dress Jacket – Technician Fifth Grade
WWII U.S. Army 87th Infantry Division Service Dress Jacket – Technician Fifth Grade
For sale is an authentic WWII U.S. Army Service Dress Jacket, commonly known as an “Ike jacket,” belonging to Technician Fifth Grade Haddow of the 87th Infantry Division, the “Golden Acorn Division.” This olive drab wool jacket, sized 36R, features the division’s iconic acorn patch on the right shoulder, marking its service in the European Theater under General Patton’s Third Army. The left sleeve displays T/5 rank chevrons with a “T” for Technician, while the right sleeve has three service stripes, indicating 18 months of overseas service—likely spanning the division’s campaigns in the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, and Central Europe. The jacket is adorned with three ribbon bars: the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Crossed rifles on the collar signify the Infantry branch, and the “Ruptured Duck” pin on the chest marks an honorable discharge. Inside, the jacket is marked with the soldier’s name, “HADDOW,” and serial number “53795.” In excellent condition with no visible tears or damage, this jacket is a tangible piece of history from a soldier who endured some of WWII’s fiercest battles, including the brutal winter fighting in the Ardennes.
