Civil War Era U.S. Model 1864 Pattern Cartridge Box
Civil War Era U.S. Model 1864 Pattern Cartridge Box
Original Civil War era U.S. Model 1864 pattern cartridge box, a classic piece of Union infantry field gear with strong display appeal. This example retains the desirable oval US box plate on the outer flap and still shows its internal tin cartridge tray in place. A very solid original piece that presents well and has the right look for any Civil War collection, display, or mannequin setup.
The leather remains largely intact and the box has an honest, untouched appearance with clear age and use. Interior flap, implement pouch, and tray are present, making this a strong representative wartime cartridge box. The box shows expected age cracking, finish wear, scuffing, and surface loss to the outer flap, but overall it remains a very displayable original example.
A good, honest Civil War cartridge box with desirable brass US oval and pleasing period character throughout.
Condition:
Good antique condition for the age. Leather is intact overall with notable finish crazing, crackling, scuffing, and wear to the outer flap. Interior remains presentable with the tin insert/tray still in place. Stitching and construction appear largely intact, with age wear and use throughout. Please review photos carefully for exact condition and details.
