Imperial German Iron Cross 1914 Match Safe/Matchbox Holder
Imperial German Iron Cross 1914 Match Safe/Matchbox Holder
Original early 20th-century German match safe or matchbox holder featuring the iconic 1914 Iron Cross design with Imperial Crown and King Wilhelm II’s “W” monogram. Constructed of stamped steel with a spring-style clip design intended to secure a small box of matches for convenient carry in a pocket, field kit, or smoking accessories collection.
The front displays a raised Iron Cross with crown, “W,” and “1914” date, commemorating the award of the Iron Cross during World War I. The reverse retains the original clip assembly and shows honest age, oxidation, and wear accumulated over many decades.
