The Remington Model 760 Gamemaster is a classic pump-action (slide-action) centerfire rifle introduced in 1952 by Remington Arms. It replaced the earlier Model 141 and was designed as a reliable, high-power hunting rifle with a detachable 4-round box magazine, a 22-inch barrel (standard), and walnut stock. It was popular for big game hunting due to its smooth action and accuracy.

Key historical points:

Production run: 1952 to 1981 (some sources note prototypes or early examples from 1951, but 1952 is the official introduction year).

Total production: Approximately 1.03 million units.

Calibers: Offered in various options over the years, including .30-06 Springfield (from 1952), .300 Savage (1952–1960), .35 Remington (1952–1967, plus 1979), .270 Winchester (introduced 1953 and available through 1981), .308 Winchester (1955–1981), .243 Winchester (1955–1981), and others like .257 Roberts, .244/6mm Remington, .280 Remington, .222 Remington, and .223 Remington in limited runs.

The .270 Win. variant was added early (1953) and remained a staple chambering due to the cartridge's flat trajectory and popularity for deer/elk hunting.

It was succeeded by the improved Model 7600 in 1981, which addressed some design updates (e.g., better safety, different stock options).

Phenomenal condition May of 1964 manufactured 760 in 270 winchester.
