WWI U.S. Model 1917 C.T. Bolo Knife by Plumb St. Louis with Scabbard
WWI U.S. Model 1917 C.T. Bolo Knife by Plumb St. Louis with Scabbard
Original World War I U.S. Model 1917 C.T. (Commercial Type) Bolo Knife manufactured by Plumb of St. Louis. Adopted during World War I, the Model 1917 C.T. was produced as a simplified version of the earlier Model 1910 bolo to meet the tremendous wartime demand for edged tools. These heavy-duty knives served as both fighting knives and utility tools, ideal for clearing brush, opening trails, camp chores, and trench work.
This example is correctly marked “PLUMB / ST. LOUIS” on one side of the ricasso and “U.S. MOD. 1917 C.T.” on the reverse. It retains its original walnut grip scales, steel crossguard, and bird’s-head pommel. The blade has a pleasing untouched gray patina with only light age staining and remains full length with a strong edge profile.
Included is a period leather-covered wooden scabbard. The leather has an old stitched seam repair or replacement that remains solid and presents well, making this a very attractive display set.
A classic American World War I edged weapon and an excellent addition to any U.S. military or trench warfare collection.
