WWII German Army (Heer) Belt Buckle-Steel Constructed-w/ Maker Mark-“R.S.&S.”
WWII German Army (Heer) Belt Buckle-Steel Constructed-w/ Maker Mark-“R.S.&S.”
Original WWII German Army (Heer) enlisted man’s belt buckle featuring the national eagle clutching a swastika within a wreath and the traditional German military motto “Gott Mit Uns” (“God With Us”).
This example appears to be a steel wartime-production buckle finished in field-gray/black paint, a common late-war manufacturing practice as Germany conserved brass and aluminum for the war effort. The reverse retains the original belt catch and prongs and is maker marked “R.S.&S.”, identifying production by Richard Sieper & Söhne, a well-known wartime buckle manufacturer.
The buckle displays honest service wear and age while retaining strong detail to the eagle, wreath, and motto. The dark finish remains present throughout much of the surface, giving the piece excellent display appeal.

Historical Background
The “Gott Mit Uns” belt buckle was standard issue for enlisted personnel of the German Army during World War II. Manufactured by numerous contractors throughout the war, these buckles were worn daily as part of the soldier’s field uniform. Late-war steel examples such as this one reflect wartime material shortages and are highly collectible among WWII militaria enthusiasts.
