This is an original 1907 Jamestown Exposition embossed souvenir postcard featuring the famous “Flyer” steam locomotive, one of the railroad-themed attractions promoted during the Jamestown Ter-Centennial Exposition held in Norfolk, Virginia.

The postcard showcases an exceptionally detailed high-relief embossed image of a steam locomotive pulling a full passenger consist through the countryside. Beneath the image is the caption:

“307 Jamestown Exposition. Flyer. 1907.”

The reverse retains its original handwritten correspondence, a 1-cent Jamestown commemorative postage stamp, and a clear September 1907 postal cancellation, making this an authentic period-used souvenir from the exposition itself. The Jamestown Exposition commemorated the 300th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in English North America, and was held from April 26 through December 1, 1907.

The deeply embossed artwork gives the locomotive remarkable three-dimensional detail and makes this one of the more visually striking railroad postcards issued for the exposition.
