1920’s-1930’s Citizens’ Military Training Camps (CMTC) Marksmen Qualification Pin

The front features a black enameled center with raised lettering reading “MARKSMAN · C.M.T.C.” surrounded by a silver-tone metal border. The reverse retains its original horizontal pin and catch attachment. The piece shows honest age and wear, including patina and oxidation to the reverse, while the face remains attractive and readily legible.

The Citizens’ Military Training Camps were a U.S. Army-sponsored program that operated during the interwar period, providing voluntary summer military training to young men without requiring them to enlist. Training included drill, physical conditioning, military instruction, and firearms proficiency. Participants could earn marksmanship awards such as this example based on their shooting qualifications. 

This particular elongated bar-style C.M.T.C. Marksman badge is a recognized period qualification insignia, with surviving examples generally attributed to the 1920s and 1930s. 

A nice original piece of pre-WWII American military training and marksmanship history, and an excellent addition to a collection of U.S. Army insignia, C.M.T.C. material, shooting awards, or interwar militaria.

Condition: Good original condition with age-related patina and wear. Original pin-back attachment remains present.
