1930’s German Postal Cover-Flensburg to Denmark-Censored/ “Geoffnet”

Offered is an original 1930s German postal history cover addressed to A/S Kaffesurrogatfabrikken “Danmark”, København V., Denmark.

The envelope bears a blue 25 Pfennig Deutsches Reich Hindenburg definitive stamp, depicting German President Paul von Hindenburg. The stamp is identified as Michel No. 522, part of the Hindenburg series issued during the early 1930s. 

Of particular interest are the original German postal inspection/censorship markings and “Geöffnet” (“Opened”) sealing strips along the left side of the envelope. These original postal markings make this significantly more interesting to collectors of German postal history than the stamp alone.

The cover is addressed to a Danish commercial company in København (Copenhagen) and bears German postal markings associated with Flensburg, the German city immediately south of the Danish border.
