This is an original 1933 German two-volume edition of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler, published by Verlag Franz Eher Nachfolger, München, complete with both matching volumes and their original illustrated dust jackets.

Unlike the later and much more common single-volume editions produced throughout the Third Reich, this desirable early format preserves the work as originally issued in two separate books:

  • Volume I (Erster Band): “Eine Abrechnung”
  • Volume II (Zweiter Band): “Die Nationalsozialistische Bewegung”

Both books retain their striking original portrait dust jackets featuring Heinrich Hoffmann’s iconic photograph of Hitler, making the set significantly more desirable than copies lacking jackets.

An interesting feature of this set is the presence of National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) organizational ownership stamps inside both volumes, indicating party or organizational distribution during the early years of the Third Reich. Volume II also bears a Dutch bookseller’s label, adding additional provenance and evidence of its period history.

Volume I retains the printed portrait frontispiece with Hitler’s printed facsimile signature, which was issued by the publisher and should not be confused with an original handwritten autograph.

Condition

Overall Good historical collector condition.

  • Complete matching two-volume set
  • Original dust jackets present on both books
  • Bindings remain solid
  • Pages complete
  • Typical age toning throughout
  • Moderate foxing scattered on several pages
  • Dust jackets exhibit edge wear, small losses, tape repairs, and rubbing consistent with age
  • Light shelf wear to boards
  • Interior organizational ownership stamps remain clear and legible

This is an honest, untouched example showing expected age while maintaining excellent display appeal.

Historical Significance

Originally published in separate volumes in 1925 and 1926, Mein Kampf was later produced in numerous editions after Hitler came to power in 1933. By the mid-1930s, combined one-volume editions largely replaced the earlier two-volume format, making complete matching sets with original dust jackets increasingly difficult to locate today. The work remains one of the most historically significant—and controversial—publications of the twentieth century, collected today for research, military history, and the study of the Third Reich rather than for its ideology.
