1934 German Sports Games Nuremberg Ceramic Medallion w/ Presentation Case

Cased commemorative medallion for the 1934 Deutsche Kampfspiele held in Nuremberg, manufactured by Hutschenreuther of Selb, Bavaria. This reddish-brown ceramic piece features a gilt center depicting an eagle and swastika above the Nuremberg skyline. The raised border inscription reads “DEUTSCHE KAMPFSPIELE · NÜRNBERG 1934.” The reverse bears the impressed Hutschenreuther name, lion trademark, and “SELB / BAVARIA” markings.

Includes its matching burgundy presentation case with cream-colored fitted interior. The inside lid is printed “Gegeben von der Stadt Nürnberg,” meaning “Given by the City of Nuremberg.” Documented examples of this type measure approximately 50–51 mm across; this example has not been measured.

The medallion appears well preserved, with clear relief detail, substantial remaining gilt decoration, and no obvious chips or cracks visible in the photographs. The case shows exterior scuffing, light interior discoloration, and significant wear along the hinge area. An attractive cased example for collectors of German sporting history, historical ceramics, and prewar memorabilia.
