Original group of four early Pennsylvania non-resident hunting game tags issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue.

The lot consists of:

  • 2 Non-Resident Large Game Tags – with designated spaces for recording deer or bear
  • 2 Non-Resident Small Game Tags – with spaces for recording the game taken, hunter’s name, residence and non-resident hunting license number

The forms carry the printed code “RCBH-7—5M—6-35,” which appears consistent with a June 1935 printing, making these approximately 90 years old.

Each tag retains its original reinforced attachment hole. The reverse sides feature a “Consigned to” section for the hunter’s name, address and state, along with period instructions concerning non-resident hunters transporting legally taken game home from Pennsylvania.

These examples appear to have never been filled out or used, leaving the primary information fields blank.

Condition is good overall for their age, with expected paper toning, staining, creases, edge wear and small tears/losses. One tag exhibits more pronounced moisture staining and deterioration along the upper edge. Please see photographs for the exact condition of each piece.

An unusual surviving group of Depression-era Pennsylvania hunting ephemera that would display well alongside antique firearms, vintage hunting licenses, sporting advertisements or other Pennsylvania outdoor memorabilia.
