An original 1935 SA (Sturmabteilung) document issued by SA der NSDAP, Sturm 11/J 29, Vilshofen, dated May 24, 1935. This scarce pre-war Third Reich certificate was issued to Walter Broll upon his departure from the SA for service in a German Labor Service camp.

Typed on official SA letterhead and signed by the unit’s Sturmführer, the document certifies that Broll served honorably within the organization and was released due to his entry into voluntary labor service. The text specifically praises his exemplary conduct, diligence, bravery, and dedication to comradeship.

Documents from the early years of the Third Reich are increasingly difficult to locate, particularly named examples with complete unit identification, official letterhead, and original signatures. This piece offers a fascinating glimpse into the administrative and organizational structure of Nazi Germany prior to World War II.

Historical Note

The SA, commonly known as the “Brownshirts,” served as the original paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party. Documents from the mid-1930s reflect the rapid expansion and bureaucratic development of the regime before the outbreak of World War II and provide valuable insight into the lives and careers of individual members.
