1935 U.S. Navy RU-4A GF-3 Aircraft Radio Equipment Manual RESTRICTED Original
1935 U.S. Navy RU-4A GF-3 Aircraft Radio Equipment Manual RESTRICTED Original
Original U.S. Navy Bureau of Engineering instruction book for Model RU-4A Aircraft Radio Equipment and Model GF-3 Aircraft Radio Equipment.
The manual is marked “RESTRICTED” and was manufactured for the U.S. Navy Department, Bureau of Engineering under Contract Nos. 42945, dated June 29, 1935, by Aircraft Radio Corporation, Boonton, New Jersey.
The title page lists:
- RU-4A Receiver: 224–13,575 KC
- GF-3 Transmitter: 3,000–4,525 KC and 6,000–9,050 KC
The restriction notice states that the manual was intended for Navy personnel whose duties involved the design, instruction, operation, and installation of radio and sound equipment.
This is a desirable pre-WWII naval aviation communications manual, dating from a period when aircraft radio systems were becoming increasingly important aboard U.S. Navy aircraft. It should appeal to collectors of early military aviation, naval radio equipment, prewar electronics, aircraft communications gear, and original U.S. Navy technical publications.
