1939 Vienna Student World Games Badge

Circular enamel pinback badge commemorating the August 1939 Studentenweltspiele, or Student World Games, in Vienna. The front features a deep blue enamel center surrounded by white and red enamel borders, with the inscription “WIEN–AUGUST 1939” above and “STUDENTENWELTSPIELE” below. A separately attached metal eagle with a swastika forms the central design.

The reverse is clearly maker marked “RUD. SCHANES / WIEN” and retains its horizontal pin assembly and visible attachment rivets. The construction and markings are consistent with documented period examples, although authenticity cannot be guaranteed from photographs alone.

Attractive overall condition, with strong enamel color and no obvious major enamel losses visible in the photographs. The eagle shows surface wear and toning, while the reverse has substantial mottled patina and finish wear. The pin and catch appear present; their operation has not been tested. A distinctive piece for collectors of prewar sporting memorabilia, Austrian historical badges, and Third Reich student organization material.
