Original 1943 Riga Municipal Street Railway (Tram) Monthly Pass issued during the German occupation of Latvia in World War II. This authentic identification and transportation document features the original passport-style photograph of the owner, period revenue stamps, official ink cancellation stamps, and handwritten personalization.

The front displays the monthly designation “1-13” along with two affixed revenue stamps and the original owner’s photograph, partially covered by an official municipal seal to prevent tampering. The reverse identifies the pass as a Rīgas Pilsētas Ielu Dzelzceļu Mēneša Abonementa Karte (Riga City Street Railway Monthly Subscription Card), numbered 6495, and issued by the Riga Municipal Transport Directorate. The printing date of 1943 is noted in the upper corner, placing the document squarely within the German occupation of Latvia.

Transportation passes from occupied Europe are increasingly sought after because they provide a fascinating glimpse into everyday civilian life under wartime administration. Examples retaining the original photograph, stamps, and official cancellations are considerably more desirable than blank or unused examples.

Condition:
Good original condition with honest age and use. The card shows rounded corners, light soiling, and surface wear consistent with daily use. The photograph, official seals, handwritten entries, and printed text remain clear and legible.

An excellent addition for collectors of:

  • WWII German occupation memorabilia
  • Occupied Latvia historical artifacts
  • Transportation and railway history
  • Civilian identification documents
  • Original wartime paper ephemera

A scarce and highly displayable World War II occupation-era identification card that captures a unique piece of everyday life in German-occupied Riga during 1943.
