1944 Izhevsk M44 Mosin-Nagant Carbine – Matching Soviet WWII Rifle – 7.62x54R
Original Soviet WWII-era M44 Mosin-Nagant carbine manufactured at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1944. Chambered in 7.62x54R, the M44 was designed as a compact infantry rifle and features the distinctive side-folding cruciform bayonet permanently attached to the rifle.
This example retains its wartime character with an attractive laminate stock, strong markings, and a crisp Izhevsk arsenal stamp. The rifle appears to have undergone a post-war Soviet refurbishment, as commonly seen with arsenal-maintained M44 carbines. Bluing remains strong overall, and the action cycles properly.
The stock shows honest handling marks from military service and storage, including a crack/split near the upper handguard toward the front barrel band that should be noted. Despite the cosmetic wear, the rifle remains a highly collectible representative of the final years of Soviet WWII production.
M44 carbines continue to be popular among military surplus collectors due to their historical significance, rugged construction, and association with the closing campaigns of World War II.
