Description:

Early American flintlock rifle featuring a beautifully figured curly maple stock with classic brass furniture, including a pierced brass patchbox, engraved sideplate, and brass trigger guard. The long octagonal barrel is marked “D. Derr”, consistent with early American barrel makers / assemblers. Overall architecture and hardware are typical of the Pennsylvania / Mid-Atlantic school of rifles.

The rifle shows honest period wear throughout, with strong visual appeal and excellent wall-hanger or restoration potential.

Condition Notes:

  • Missing ramrod
  • Lock requires work (not functioning properly)
  • Stock shows age-related wear, minor marks, and dark patina
  • Barrel with visible age, oxidation, and clear hand-forged character
  • Brass furniture with untouched patina

Collector Notes:

Despite mechanical issues, this rifle retains strong historical and decorative value. The curly maple stock and engraved brass patchbox significantly enhance desirability. Ideal for a collector, decorator, or knowledgeable restorer looking for an authentic early American long rifle.
