Chilean contract Mauser Modelo 1895 bolt-action military rifle, originally manufactured by Ludwig Loewe & Co., Berlin and later arsenal converted to 7.62x51mm NATO. The receiver is clearly marked “NATO 1961,” identifying the later Chilean military conversion/rearsenal program.

This is an interesting example of a late-19th-century Mauser that remained in military service long enough to be updated for the NATO-era cartridge. It retains its full-length military-style wood furniture, military sights, cleaning rod, sling hardware, steel buttplate, and leather sling. The stock has an attractive aged finish with scattered handling marks consistent with military use and arsenal service.

Metal surfaces show honest finish wear, patina and scattered age-related marks but present well overall. The rear sight remains intact and graduated, and the rifle retains numerous military/inspection markings. Bolt and action appear mechanically functional.

The rifle is in good overall used condition, particularly considering its age and lengthy military service. A nice representative piece for a Mauser, Chilean military, or Cold War-era conversion collection.
