For sale is an original Civil War era U.S. Non-Commissioned Officer sword, dated 1862 at the ricasso. This is the classic brass-hilt NCO pattern used during the Civil War, featuring a straight blade, brass guard, knuckle bow, and ribbed brass grip.

This example is marked U.S. / 1862 and does not appear to have a visible maker mark. The sword has a nice honest aged appearance with a mellow brass patina and a blade showing age, scattered spotting, and surface wear. The brass grip and guard display well, and the overall look is very presentable for a Civil War display.

A good original wartime-dated NCO sword for a Civil War collection, edged weapons display, or militaria collection.
