Cold War East German NVA Mess Kit & Bread Bag Set – Strichtarn Camo w/ Harness – TLA 998

Offered here is an original Cold War–era East German National People’s Army (NVA) field mess kit set complete with harness and camouflage bread bag. This practical field equipment was issued to East German soldiers for carrying their mess kit, rations, and personal gear during field operations.

The set includes an aluminum mess tin / cooking pot housed in a Strichtarn “rain pattern” camouflage bread bag, secured by canvas straps and metal hardware. Attached is a canvas Y-strap style harness system, allowing the kit to be worn comfortably on the back or attached to a soldier’s field gear. The harness is stamped “TLA 998.”

These sets were used throughout the Cold War by the East German NVA and are a great example of Warsaw Pact field equipment. Strichtarn camouflage gear has become increasingly collectible as authentic Cold War militaria.
