Documented WWII U.S. Army Nurse Corps Officer Uniform Grouping
Belonging to:

Lt. Lillian Marie Shortley (later Roseberry)
U.S. Army Registered Nurse – World War II

This grouping includes:

• Named officer service coat, tailored by Schwobilt (1943)
• Interior tag dated April 20, 1944
• Named to “Lt. Lillian Shortley”
• Original WWII Army Nurse Corps buttons
• Matching period skirt

Alongside:

• Second WWII officer service coat (same size and period construction)
• Seventh Service Command shoulder patch
• Correct officer sleeve braid
• Consistent tailoring and wear patterns

Both jackets were found together and are of identical size and period construction, strongly suggesting they were worn by the same officer during her WWII service.

Lt. Shortley was born in Lorient, France, served as a Registered Nurse in the U.S. Army during WWII, and later devoted more than 30 years to civilian nursing at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. She passed away in 2011 at age 89.

The Seventh Service Command oversaw major Army operations and hospital facilities in the Midwestern United States during WWII, providing additional historical context to her service.

Named WWII Army Nurse Corps uniforms with researchable attribution are increasingly scarce — especially when preserved as a multi-coat grouping.
