Dutch Beaumont-Vitali Model 1871/88 Military Rifle – 11mm

Original Dutch Beaumont-Vitali Model 1871/88 bolt-action military rifle chambered in 11mm. Originally developed from the single-shot Beaumont Model 1871, these rifles were later converted to the Vitali magazine system, giving them their distinctive projecting box magazine. This example retains its full-length military wood stock, barrel bands, sling swivels, adjustable military rear sight, magazine assembly, and original-style hardware.

The rifle shows substantial honest service and age wear throughout. Metal has developed an even gray/brown patina with areas of oxidation and finish loss. The stock has numerous handling marks, dents, scratches, and old markings consistent with a military rifle of this age. The visible circular stock cartouche is a particularly nice surviving detail. Bolt and action are present and appear mechanically functional.

A very interesting late-19th-century European military rifle and a much less common find than the typical Mauser-family surplus rifles.
