Available now is an original E. Whitney Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle, chambered in .54 caliber, and dated 1851 on the lock. This is a highly desirable mid-19th century U.S. military pattern rifle, associated with pre-Civil War and early Civil War use.

 

The lock is clearly marked “E. Whitney” and “N Haven 1851”, confirming production by Eli Whitney Jr. in New Haven, Connecticut—one of the key contractors producing these iconic rifles.
