Offered here is a classic Edward Kettner German Drilling, featuring two 16 Gauge shotgun barrels over a 9.3x72R rifle barrel. Built in Germany during the golden age of Suhl sporting arms, these combination guns were prized for their ability to handle everything from upland birds and waterfowl to deer and boar with a single firearm.

This example is marked Edward Kettner, Germany, with the barrels marked “I A FLUSS” and appropriate German proof marks. The rifle barrel is chambered in the traditional 9.3x72R, one of the most common German sporting cartridges of the early 20th century.

The gun features a classic case-colored boxlock action with double triggers, Greener-style top crossbolt, top tang selector, rib extension, sling swivels, and a finely matted rib. The walnut stock retains attractive figure and honest field character developed over decades of use.

Mechanically the gun is in good used condition. The bores present well, and the firearm exhibits the quality workmanship expected from German sporting arms. There is one crack extending rearward from the action into the wrist of the stock, visible on both sides, which should be noted for collectors and shooters. The crack appears stable but should be considered when evaluating the firearm.
