Up for grabs is a German 2nd Pattern 1st Class Wound Badge made by Klein & Quenzer. This was the highest class of wound badge and was issued to servicemen of all branches of the Wehrmacht, SS, auxiliary service organizations, and (starting in 1943) civilians who were wounded five or more times by enemy action. The badge could also be awarded to those who became disabled as a result of injury or were killed in action. The 1st Class badges themselves were the same as 2nd Class badges but with a gold wash applied to them. Unfortunately, this example has lost almost all of the gold wash and looks like a 2nd Class badge other than some remaining gold on the right send of the helmet and upper right side of the reverse. Otherwise, it is a clean and intact example with no visible damage. It also comes with a period correct presentation case.
