German K98k Mauser – “duv 42” Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik – 8mm Mauser

Original WWII-era German Karabiner 98k (K98k) bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm). Manufactured in 1942 by Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik, identified by the wartime “duv 42” receiver code.

This rifle retains numerous visible German military acceptance/proof markings and Waffenamt stamps. All visible serialized components observed are matching, including the receiver/bolt-area numbers shown in the photographs. This gives the rifle considerably more collector interest than a typical mismatched or heavily sporterized K98k.

The rifle remains in good overall military-surplus condition with an attractive, honest aged appearance to the metal. There are several important condition points that should be noted for collectors: the upper handguard directly forward of the rear sight has been split and glued/repaired, the front sight hood is absent, and the front barrel band appears to have been replaced. The stock itself is also believed to be a replacement rather than the rifle’s original matching stock. Red coloration/staining is visible in several areas of the wood.

Despite these replacement/repair issues, this remains an appealing WWII German K98k with a desirable 1942 duv manufacturer code, extensive period markings, and matching visible numbered metal components. An excellent representative example for a WWII collection without the price associated with a completely untouched, all-original matching rifle.
