For sale is an exceptional and authentic WW2 German Luftwaffe Feldmütze side cap, a rare piece of history from the early years of the war. This 1941-manufactured cap, produced by the reputable K.H. Flauder in Minden, Westphalia, was worn by an enlisted member of the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force, as indicated by its blue-gray wool construction and white piping—designations typical for Luftwaffe personnel during WW2.

Details and Condition:

• Exterior: The cap is constructed of period-correct blue-gray wool, designed for Luftwaffe personnel, with a rounded crown and fixed sides (no foldable flap or button, a wartime variation for simplified production). It features white piping along the crown, a hallmark of enlisted ranks. The fabric shows expected wear for a wartime item, including slight fading and minor creasing, but remains intact with no major tears or stains.• Insignia: The front bears the standard Luftwaffe eagle in white thread, paired with a black-white-red national cockade, both correctly positioned and machine-stitched, as was typical for enlisted caps. The insignia show age-appropriate wear but are original and intact, adding to the cap’s historical value.• Interior: The cotton lining is stamped with “K.H. Flauder, Minden (Westf.), 1941” and the size “58” (58 cm head circumference), confirming its authenticity as a wartime production piece. The lining and stitching are consistent with originals, with no signs of modern reproduction (e.g., synthetic materials or incorrect fonts).

Historical Context:The Luftwaffe Feldmütze was a practical piece of headgear issued to German Air Force personnel during WW2, designed for everyday wear in various theaters of operation. The white piping identifies this cap as belonging to an enlisted man, while the early production date of 1941—before material shortages led to lower-quality items—makes it a desirable example. K.H. Flauder was a known manufacturer of Wehrmacht headgear, and their stamp is a hallmark of authenticity, linking this cap directly to the early war period.

Collector’s Note:This cap has been carefully examined and is believed to be 90–95% likely an original piece, based on its manufacturer stamp, materials, construction, and complete insignia (eagle and cockade). It’s in very good condition for its age, with all elements (insignia, lining, and exterior) showing consistent wear. Perfect for serious collectors of WW2 German militaria, especially those focused on the Luftwaffe or early war artifacts.
