German Mauser Model 98 – 8mm Mauser – Post-WWII Yugoslavian Arsenal Rework – Military Surplus Rifle

Offered here is a classic German-manufactured Mauser Model 98 bolt-action rifle, chambered in the powerful 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm) cartridge. Originally manufactured in Germany, this rifle was subsequently refurbished and rearsenaled in Yugoslavia following World War II.

These postwar Yugoslavian reworks represent an interesting chapter in military firearms history. Following the war, Yugoslavia acquired numerous German Mauser rifles and refurbished them for continued military service, frequently replacing the original receiver markings with Yugoslavian arsenal markings.

This example retains the traditional military configuration, complete with its full-length walnut-colored military stock, blued metal finish, adjustable military rear sight, and distinctive Yugoslavian crest on the receiver.

The rifle is in good used condition, showing normal handling marks, scratches, and wear throughout the wood consistent with its military history. The metal finish presents nicely, and the bore is in good condition.

Historical Significance
