German six-place medal ribbon bar featuring a combination of First World War, Second World War, and long-service decorations. The ribbons are neatly mounted in a single row, with two crossed-sword devices and a silver-colored miniature Faithful Service Cross. The reverse has black fabric backing and a long horizontal attachment pin.

The ribbons appear to represent, from left to right:

  • 1914 Iron Cross, Second Class
  • War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords
  • Eastern Front Medal, 1941–42
  • Honor Cross for Combatants, 1914–18, with crossed swords
  • 25-Year Faithful Civil Service Cross, with miniature silver-grade cross
  • Austrian First World War Commemorative Medal

The miniature cross on the blue ribbon is consistent with the 25-year civil service decoration, while the final ribbon’s red-and-white stripes match the Austrian commemorative medal.

Included is a cream-colored cardboard jeweler’s box marked “Paul Buchwald / Juwelier / Ffm.-Höchst,” identifying a jeweler in Frankfurt-Höchst. The box retains its tissue lining and shows age-related discoloration, edge wear, and some corner separation.

An accompanying German newspaper clipping, titled “Ehrung für einen Pferdepfleger!” (“Honor for a horse caretaker!”), mentions Friedrich Schöttler receiving a gold equestrian-related badge and describes 35 years spent caring for privately owned and rental horses at a riding school in Groß-Flottbek. Its connection to the ribbon bar’s recipient is unverified, so it should be described as an accompanying clipping rather than proof of ownership.

The ribbons retain strong color with light visible wear. The metal devices show age-related toning, and the rear pin and catch are present. An attractive boxed display grouping; no full-size medals are included. The construction appears consistent with a period bar.
