This example has been professionally tested with a precious-metal verifier, producing a reading of approximately 58% gold / 14K, consistent with the 585 fineness associated with known gold examples of this decoration. Specialist references describe accepted solid-gold oak-leaf badges as 585 gold and exceptionally scarce. 

Of particular interest, the reverse of this badge is stamped “261.” No additional maker or fineness marking is visible. This is an unusual feature: published specialist research states that currently accepted examples generally bear a 585 gold-content mark and that documented originals are not normally known with award serial numbers. Accordingly, the significance of the 261 marking remains unidentified and is specifically noted here rather than represented as a confirmed award number. 

The badge exhibits genuine age and wear. The gold-toned oak-leaf border remains attractive with areas of tarnishing and surface wear. The enamel retains strong color, although there is notable finish/enamel loss to the central black swastika. There is also some lifting/separation of the central HJ diamond from the surrounding gold border. The reverse retains its period-style pin and catch assembly and displays substantial age toning.
