J.P. Sauer & Sohn 20 Gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun – German Made – Double Triggers – Excellent Condition

Beautiful J.P. Sauer & Sohn 20 gauge side-by-side shotgun, manufactured in Germany and marked “J.P. Sauer & Sohn – Made in W. Germany.” This is a particularly attractive traditional German sporting double with a scalloped/engraved receiver, game-scene engraving, double triggers, tang-mounted safety, checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and matching checkered splinter-style forearm.

The shotgun features blued side-by-side barrels with a finely checkered top rib and bead sight. The barrels retain excellent blue with only light evidence of handling. The receiver shows attractive engraving and considerable remaining finish, while the walnut has strong color and grain with crisp checkering. A ventilated recoil pad is fitted to the butt.

Overall this example is in excellent used condition, especially for an older Sauer sporting shotgun. Metal surfaces are clean, bores appear bright from the supplied photographs, and the wood remains very attractive with only minor normal handling marks. A handsome, well-made 20 gauge German double that would fit equally well in a sporting collection or as a classic upland shotgun.
