Up for sale here is a very unique piece; a Japanese Type 30 bayonet that either during or after the war was cut down into a knife. this particular blade was made at either the Tokyo Army Arsenal, the Tokyo Army Ministry Armory, or the Kokura Army Ministry Army depending on if it was made from 1898 to 1923, 1923 to 1935, or 1935 to 1945. The Type 30 was the standard bayonet of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy throughout this time, and was issued to all ground troops regardless of if they had a firearm to mount them on or not. As a result, many were made and many were brought home by American servicemen as war trophies. This one is unique in that it was cut down in a more artistic than practical way like most other known cut down Type 30s. It sits in a period sheath that appears to have been modified specifically for it. Also, the locking mechanism has not been tampered with, however, so it should still lock onto any Japanese rifle of the period. While not in its original military configuration, this still historical piece would make an interesting addition to any blade or militarization collection.
