Knights of Pythias Fraternal Sword – Circa 1900–1920
Knights of Pythias Fraternal Sword – Circa 1900–1920
Classic early 20th century Knights of Pythias ceremonial fraternal sword featuring an ornate nickel-plated hilt with raised “FCB” emblem, eagle crossguard terminals, helmeted knight pommel, and original chain guard attachment. The etched blade retains decorative panels with patriotic, military, and fraternal motifs along with visible maker and retailer markings. Includes original scabbard with suspension mounts.
The Knights of Pythias was one of the major American fraternal organizations of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and members frequently carried elaborate ceremonial swords during parades, initiations, and lodge functions. These swords are highly collectible for their symbolism, craftsmanship, and connection to turn-of-the-century American fraternal culture.
This example shows attractive untouched age throughout with surviving etching on the blade and strong decorative detail to the hilt. The grip retains original wire wrap and finish with expected age wear. The scabbard shows honest oxidation and finish loss consistent with long-term storage. A very displayable and increasingly collectible fraternal sword.
