Military Police MP Armbands and Police Equipment Grouping
Military Police MP Armbands and Police Equipment Grouping
Description
Original mid-20th-century Military Police themed equipment grouping consisting of two MP brassards, a wooden police baton, and related accessories. This display represents the type of equipment used by U.S. Army Military Police or civilian auxiliary police/security personnel during the World War II to early Cold War era.
The centerpiece of the grouping is a pair of dark blue wool Military Police brassards, each featuring large white felt “MP” letters. Brassards were worn on the upper arm of a uniform to quickly identify soldiers serving as Military Police while directing traffic, guarding installations, or performing security duties. These cloth arm bands were commonly issued during WWII and later conflicts for MPs operating both in garrison and in the field.
Accompanying the brassards is a traditional wooden police nightstick/baton, typical of those carried by military police and civilian law enforcement officers during the mid-20th century. The baton features a hardwood shaft with turned grip and wrist lanyard.
Also included is a six-point “Special Police” star badge, representing the type commonly worn by plant security, wartime auxiliary police, or local special deputies assigned to guard factories, rail yards, and other strategic facilities.
Additional small accessories include:
- Metal cuff / clip (likely part of uniform equipment or accessory hardware)
- Vintage metal corkscrew tool or accessory piece
This grouping would make an excellent display set for a WWII Military Police uniform or law-enforcement collection.
