Civil War Relic Group – Militia Infantry Bugle Insignia, Ohio Device & Antietam-Dug Belt Buckle
Civil War Relic Group – Militia Infantry Bugle Insignia, Ohio Device & Antietam-Dug Belt Buckle
Interesting Civil War relic display lot consisting of several recovered and identified artifacts associated with Union service and one battlefield-recovered buckle reportedly dug from the Antietam area.
The group includes:
- Civil War era brass Militia Infantry bugle insignia (relic condition)
- Brass Ohio state identification device/pin
- Iron belt buckle frame reportedly recovered from the Antietam battlefield area
- Period display mount included
The bugle insignia was commonly worn by infantry and militia units during the Civil War period and remains one of the most recognizable branch devices of the era. The Ohio device adds state-level interest and would fit well in a Union soldier relic collection.
The buckle is heavily excavated with significant oxidation and corrosion consistent with a long-term ground recovery. While primarily a relic, it displays well and adds battlefield provenance to the grouping.
Condition:
All pieces are excavated relics showing age, oxidation, corrosion, and losses. The bugle insignia retains recognizable detail despite damage. Ohio device exhibits wear and patina. Buckle frame is heavily rusted but identifiable. Mounted for display.
