WWII U.S. Army Engineer Special Brigades Service Dress Jacket and Trousers – Sergeant
WWII U.S. Army Engineer Special Brigades Service Dress Jacket and Trousers – Sergeant
For sale is an authentic WWII U.S. Army Service Dress Jacket, commonly known as an “Ike jacket,” along with matching trousers, belonging to a Sergeant from the Engineer Special Brigades. This olive drab wool uniform set features the Engineer Special Brigades patch on the right shoulder—a red shield with a white trident and wings—symbolizing their amphibious engineering role in support of major Allied invasions. The Engineer Special Brigades played a critical part in operations like the D-Day landings at Normandy and invasions in the Pacific, clearing beach obstacles, building temporary piers, and managing supply lines under challenging conditions. The sleeves display three chevrons, indicating the rank of Sergeant, a non-commissioned officer who likely led a squad or oversaw engineering tasks within the brigade. The interior of the jacket is marked “M474,” adding a touch of provenance to this piece.
In good condition for its age, the jacket and trousers show minor wear, including small stains, but have no significant tears or damage. The patches and insignia are original and intact, making this a well-preserved uniform set from a soldier associated with one of WWII’s most versatile engineering units. Perfect for collectors of WWII militaria, especially those interested in the amphibious operations of the European and Pacific Theaters, or for display as a testament to the engineering feats of the Greatest Generation.
