WWII U.S. Army 5th Air Corps Service Dress Jacket - Technician Third Grade with Ruptured Duck and Ribbon Bar - Size 39R
Own a piece of WWII history with this U.S. Army service dress jacket, worn by a Technician Third Grade in the 5th Air Corps. Dating to the 1940s, this jacket is a rare find for collectors and reenactors. Sized 39R (approximately Medium/Regular), it offers a tailored fit for display or wear.
Crafted from olive drab wool, this jacket features the classic WWII design with shoulder epaulets, chest pockets, and a four-button front for a sharp, military look. The right shoulder displays the 5th Air Corps patch, featuring a blue circle with a white star, a red “5,” and an orange border—a symbol of the unit’s critical role in training and logistics support for the U.S. Army Air Forces, including units deployed to the Pacific Theater for B-29 bombing campaigns. The left shoulder patch is missing, likely originally a U.S. Army patch. Both sleeves feature Technician Third Grade chevrons with two upward stripes and a “T,” rendered in gold-on-blue embroidery. Four gold service stripes on the left sleeve indicate 24 months of overseas service, and a Ruptured Duck patch above the left pocket signifies the wearer’s honorable discharge from WWII service. A ribbon bar on the left chest includes the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal, reflecting service in the Pacific and recognition for exemplary conduct.
This jacket is in good condition, with the wool exterior showing minor wear, including slight fading and small areas of wear around the collar and cuffs (see photos for details). The interior lining is intact but has some staining, and all original U.S. Army buttons remain in place. Perfect for a military collection or historical reenactments, this 5th Air Corps jacket with its Ruptured Duck patch and ribbon bar is a tangible link to the vital support roles of U.S. soldiers during WWII. Don’t miss your chance to own this remarkable piece of American military heritage.
