WWI U.S. Army Ordnance Department Service Dress Uniform Set – Sergeant
WWI U.S. Army Ordnance Department Service Dress Uniform Set – Sergeant
For sale is an authentic WWI U.S. Army Service Dress Uniform set, consisting of a Model 1912 Service Coat and matching trousers, belonging to a Sergeant in the Ordnance Department. This olive drab wool uniform features the Ordnance Department patch on the left shoulder—a flaming bomb with a wreath—along with collar insignia displaying “U.S.” and the flaming bomb. The sleeves display two chevrons, indicating the rank of Sergeant, and a single red discharge chevron, marking honorable discharge after the war. The Ordnance Department played a vital role in WWI, managing the supply and maintenance of weapons and ammunition for the American Expeditionary Forces.
In good condition for its age, the uniform shows wear consistent with its 100+ year history, including fraying, small tears, and fading, but remains intact with original chevrons and patch. The inclusion of matching trousers makes this a rare complete set. Perfect for collectors of WWI militaria, especially those interested in the logistical efforts that supported the AEF, or for display as a testament to the Ordnance Department’s contributions to the Allied victory.
