Norinco MAK-90 (Modified AK-1990) semi-automatic rifle, caliber 7.62×39mm, manufactured in China by Norinco and imported by C.A.I. (Century Arms International), St. Albans, VT.​

This is a classic early-1990s Chinese “sporter” version of the Type 56 (Chinese AKM-pattern) platform. After the 1989 U.S. import restrictions on certain military-style features, Norinco produced these specifically for the civilian market with a fixed wooden thumbhole stock, no bayonet lug, and other modifications to meet the “sporting purposes” criteria. They were imported primarily 1990–1994 (some residual stock later).​

Standard AK-style gas system, hooded front sight, adjustable rear tangent sight.
