Original 1943 NSDAP Invoice-WWII German Document
Original World War II-era German invoice dated December 31, 1943, issued by Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachf. G.m.b.H., München 22, the Nazi Party’s central publishing house.
The document has a particularly strong printed letterhead reading “Zentralverlag der NSDAP” accompanied by the period German national eagle and swastika emblem. Franz Eher Nachfolger was the principal publishing organization of the NSDAP and was responsible for numerous Party publications.
The invoice appears to have been sent to a period newspaper/periodical distributor in Marquartstein, Oberbayern and records deliveries of several publications.
Especially notable are entries for:
“Völk. Beob. Südd. Ausgabe” — the Völkischer Beobachter, Southern German edition. The Völkischer Beobachter was the official newspaper of the Nazi Party and one of the principal propaganda publications of the Third Reich.
“Ill. Beob.” — Illustrierter Beobachter, an illustrated weekly publication associated with the Party’s publishing operation.
“Die Post” — another period publication listed on the invoice.
The invoice covers issues supplied during late 1943 and shows quantities, issue numbers and prices, with a total of 49.14 Reichsmarks. The lower portion also contains printed references to numerous publications distributed by the Zentralverlag.
The December 31, 1943 date places this squarely in wartime Germany, making it an interesting surviving piece of the administrative and commercial machinery behind the NSDAP’s propaganda publishing operation.
The document appears to be in very good condition for its approximately 83-year age, with expected toning, minor edge/corner wear and small filing/punch marks visible at the left. Printing remains strong and highly legible. Currently displayed in a frame; frame is included if desired, though I would note that the document has not been removed from the frame for inspection.
Guaranteed original to the period based on our examination and sold as a historical collectible.
