Original German Berufsbuch (Professional Work Book) issued by the Arbeitsamt (Employment Office) in Betzdorf on June 11, 1948, documenting the working life of Erich Kolsdorf (born November 9, 1914) from the pre-war period through the postwar reconstruction era.

Although the booklet itself was issued in 1948, it officially records Kolsdorf’s apprenticeship beginning in April 1929, completion of his machinist apprenticeship (Dreher) and Gesellenprüfung (Journeyman’s Examination) in October 1932, along with his employment history through 1954. Following World War II, replacement work books were commonly issued to preserve earlier employment records lost or replaced during the war.

Highlights include:

  • Original Arbeitsamt Betzdorf issue dated June 11, 1948
  • Named to Erich Kolsdorf
  • Apprenticeship as a Dreher (Machinist/Turner) from April 11, 1929 – October 10, 1932
  • Journeyman’s examination completed October 10, 1932
  • Employment entries spanning 1932–1954
  • Multiple official Deutsche Eisenbahn E.A.W. Betzdorf employment stamps
  • Original signatures, occupation office seal, and handwritten entries
  • Bilingual German/French printing typical of the French Occupation Zone
  • Excellent documentation of one individual’s employment before WWII, during the war, and into the rebuilding of West Germany.

Condition is very good overall with light age and handling wear. All pages are present with clear official stamps and handwritten entries. An outstanding piece of postwar German social and industrial history with documented provenance.
