Original Japanese Samurai Armor with Maru ni Daki Omodaka Clan Crest

An impressive and visually striking suit of original Japanese samurai armor (yoroi), featuring a kabuto helmet bearing the Maru ni Daki Omodaka family crest, matching menpo face mask, black lacquered iron cuirass, armored sleeves with traditional kusari (chain mail) and iron plate construction, and articulated armored skirt sections.

This armor displays the craftsmanship and elegance associated with the warrior class of feudal Japan. The suit retains numerous traditional features including black lacquered iron components, extensive hand-laced construction, chain mail reinforcement, textile elements, and decorative clan insignia. The helmet is adorned with the Maru ni Daki Omodaka mon, a recognized Japanese family crest used by various samurai families throughout Japanese history.

Based upon construction methods, materials, and overall appearance, the armor appears consistent with a late Edo to early Meiji period example, though it may contain components from different periods and shows evidence of age, use, restoration, and reassembly commonly encountered in surviving samurai armor. No maker’s signature or identifying inscriptions were found during inspection.

The armor remains an outstanding display piece and an excellent addition to any collection of Japanese militaria, Asian antiques, samurai artifacts, museum-quality displays, or historical arms and armor.
