Original WWII German Feldpost Letter & Envelope-Zellendorf-Aug 1942

Original WWII German military Feldpost correspondence consisting of the original handwritten multi-page letter together with its matching wartime envelope. The letter is dated August 9, 1942, from Zellendorf, and the envelope carries a clear Zellendorf Feldpost cancellation dated August 10, 1942.

The letter begins “Liebe Mutter!” (“Dear Mother!”) and contains several pages of handwritten personal correspondence in period German cursive. The writer discusses his situation in Zellendorf, letters and news from home, family and acquaintances, upcoming movements and his expectations for the following days. This is personal wartime correspondence rather than a printed document, offering an intimate look at the everyday experience of a German serviceman during the middle of WWII.

The envelope retains handwritten recipient and sender information as well as a faint circular military/unit marking. The exact military formation represented by the faded stamp has not been positively identified, so no specific unit attribution is being claimed.
