Original WWII German Kriegsmarine Reichkriegsflagge-Wurttemburgische Cattunmanufactur-Massive 6’x12’ War Flag

Offered is an exceptionally large original WWII German Reichskriegsflagge (Reich War Flag), measuring approximately 6 feet × 12 feet and retaining its original manufacturer label from Württembergische Cattunmanufactur, Heidenheim a. Brz.

This impressive multi-piece constructed flag features the traditional red field with offset black-and-white cross, large central white roundel with black swastika, and Iron Cross in the upper canton.

Of particular importance is the original sewn manufacturer label reading:

“Württembergische Cattunmanufactur
Heidenheim a. Brz.”

Württembergische Cattunmanufactur was a documented German textile manufacturer during the Third Reich period and is known from surviving WWII German naval flags. Other documented Kriegsmarine flags from this same manufacturer are known with naval acceptance, size and issue markings.

The reinforced hoist of this example also retains a faded period ink issue/acceptance marking. Portions of the marking are no longer legible, so no attempt has been made to assign an exact size designation from the surviving stamp.

The flag is of exceptionally impressive scale, covering nearly an entire room when laid out. Its heavy-duty construction includes extensive reinforcement stitching appropriate for a flag of this enormous size.

The flag shows considerable genuine service/storage wear, including holes, tears, scattered fabric loss, staining, discoloration, creasing and deterioration through portions of the black cross. These flaws are clearly photographed and have been left completely untouched. Despite the wear, the flag remains largely complete and presents exceptionally well because of its enormous dimensions and strong coloration.

An outstanding centerpiece for an advanced WWII German militaria or historical flag collection and substantially more impressive in person than photographs can convey.
