Original WWII German Police Kennkarte Identification Card-Bochum Police District-Complete with Photo
Original WWII German Police Kennkarte Identification Card-Bochum Police District-Complete with Photo
An original World War II German Kennkarte (National Identity Card) issued during the Third Reich to Hermann Niemann, born November 11, 1922, in Herne, Germany. The document was issued on November 12, 1942 by the Polizeipräsident in Bochum (Police President in Bochum), 1st Police Precinct, during the height of World War II.
This complete identity card retains its original portrait photograph, handwritten entries, fingerprints, official revenue stamp, and multiple crisp police ink stamps bearing the Third Reich eagle. The original owner is listed as a Dreherlehrling (machinist/lathe operator apprentice), an important industrial trade in the Ruhr region, which was the heart of Germany’s wartime steel and armaments production.
The Kennkarte remains complete and is preserved in a protective archival sleeve. It exhibits honest age-related toning, light handling wear, and minor staining consistent with an original identity document over 80 years old. The photograph is exceptionally clear, and the official stamps, signatures, and personal information remain well preserved, making this an excellent research and display piece.
Unlike many surviving examples that have become separated from their photographs or contain missing pages, this Kennkarte remains intact and offers an authentic snapshot of civilian life in wartime Germany.
