Original WWII German Postal Pension Payment Card-(Rentenkarte)
Original WWII German Postal Pension Payment Card-(Rentenkarte)
Original World War II-era German Postal Pension Payment Card (Rentenkarte) issued by the Deutsche Reichspost for the collection of government pension payments. Printed on distinctive salmon-red cardstock, these cards were presented at local post offices whenever the recipient collected their pension, making them an interesting example of the German civilian administrative system during the Third Reich.
The front is completed in period ink and includes:
- Post Office: Holle
- Pension Number: 9050
- Original handwritten entries
- Printed instructions directing the holder to present the card each time a pension was collected and to return it if the pension ended or the recipient moved.
The reverse contains additional printed regulations stating that the pension recipient is responsible for any loss or misuse of the card, along with handwritten recipient information and official notations.
Printed at the bottom is a ”(11.30)” print code, indicating the form design dates to November 1930 and continued in use into the WWII period, as was common with Reich postal forms.
Condition:
- Original WWII-era German document
- Bright, attractive salmon-red cardstock
- Original handwritten entries in period ink
- Minor corner wear and light handling from use
- No major tears or repairs
- Excellent display condition
Historical Significance:
Rather than a military item, this is an authentic piece of German home-front postal history, illustrating how pensions and government benefits were distributed through the Reich postal system during the war. Administrative documents like this are less commonly encountered than letters or photographs and help document everyday civilian life in wartime Germany.
